This is where AI gets lost for words
We’re living in the noisiest communication environment in human history.
Every day, our inboxes, feeds, and chat apps flood us with:
Emails that could have been a sentence
Reports that say little with many words
Posts optimised for algorithms instead of people
Now add AI into the mix, churning out oceans of semi-acceptable content at industrial scale. The result is a swamp of “fine” writing that blurs together into one endless, soothing, forgettable hum.
This is where AI gets lost for words
In this environment, the real challenge is no longer producing text. That’s easy. A prompt and a click, and you have more text than you could ever need.
The real challenge is:
Being felt, not just read
Being remembered, not just received
Creating the kind of communication that makes someone stop, think, and respond as a human, not as another node in a system
Standing out: from slop to signal
So how do you shine in an age of machine-made mediocrity? How do you send messages that feel like a firm handshake, a raised eyebrow, or an honest smile—rather than a politely-worded notification?
You do it by:
Stripping away the filler and the fake enthusiasm
Choosing clarity over grandiosity, and specificity over buzzwords
Letting your real perspective, humour, and personality show through
Writing not to impress a hypothetical audience, but to connect with real people you actually know
Ironically, as AI makes it easier than ever to generate “correct” prose, it simultaneously increases the value of distinctive human communication. When everyone sounds like a slightly nervous corporate intern with access to a thesaurus, the person who sounds like a clear, confident human being becomes magnetic.
Why human coaching matters more, not less
This is why high-level communication coaching is not becoming obsolete; it’s becoming essential.
AI can:
Help you clean up your language
Suggest structures, headings, and formats
Provide a first draft or three
But a skilled human coach can:
Help you find and refine your voice, not a generic “professional” one
Show you when AI’s suggestions are subtly off, culturally awkward, or over the top
Train you to use AI as a tool—powerful, yes, but firmly under your control
Guide you from “good English” to effective, influential, and memorable English
In a world flooded with near-instant, near-identical messages, the competitive advantage shifts to those who communicate with clarity, precision, warmth, and originality.
AI can take you quickly to “good enough.”
Human insight is what takes you from “good enough” to “unmistakably you.”
And that difference—the final, human 20%—is where relationships are built, deals are done, and real impact is made.

Little changes can create big outcomes
As an avid marathon runner and as someone who has completed the Abbott World Marathon Majors, I'm somewhat obsessed with marathon times and how the elites shave off minutes.
When Sebastian Sawe crossed the finish line this year many headlines focused on his remarkable time and record breaking performances, and deservedly so. However, another story was running alongside him; the shoes!
