Chris Davis
Journalist
A Hong Kong resident for over 24 years, Chris works with Connect Communication in developing media training courses with a particular focus on the financial services industry. He edits in-house publications and press releases for various companies across a variety of sectors including hospitality, IT, textiles, construction and financials, including wealth management and private banking.
Chris began his career in North Devon in England, contributing to The Western Morning News, Exeter Express and Echo and Tiverton Gazette. He managed a team of eight photographers and reporters in the offices of the Devon News Agency, organizing news and features stories for various national newspapers. News and feature topics covered current affairs, lifestyle, history and topical features for various trade publications. Contract employment with various leading UK newspapers included The Times, Telegraph, Independent and Daily Express.
Since 1986 he has been a freelance journalist, working as Feature Writer and Communications Manager for the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB). He is a regular contributor to the South China Morning Post, also Newsweek Magazine, National Geographic Traveller Magazine, Prestige magazine. He is a special report writer for the International Herald Tribune focusing on private banking in Asia, investment banking and wealth management.
Assignments commissioned by the South China Morning Post include transport, investment, education, property, logistics, supply chain management, financials including the investment fund industry, wealth management, insurance, retirement and private banking, and various Hong Kong Awards programmes such as the Hong Kong Awards for Industry, Hong Kong Awards for Services and Hong Kong Courtesy and Service Awards.
